Asian Dwarf

Aliases: none Status: Minor

An Asian-looking dwarf in a crimson silk jacket who works the Kumité bleachers as a pit recruiter, sharp-eyed and dressed “like he knew where the real power in Chinatown was hidden.” He takes one look at Chuy and tries to buy him.

Description

Short, sharp-eyed, crimson silk jacket. The text introduces him as appearing “like a side quest.” He points a stubby finger at Chuy and opens negotiations on the spot.

Role in Volume 01

In Big Trouble in Chinatown, he sidles up to Thomas in the stands, points at Chuy, and asks, “How much for your dog?” Thomas refuses the sale. The dwarf shrugs, pitches the upside (“You can make a lot of money with that one in The Pit”), and vanishes into the crowd “like smoke in a noodle shop.” He never reappears.

Relationships

  • Thomas: his sales target; Thomas declines.
  • Chuy: the merchandise; not for sale.

Notes

  • His “How much for your dog?” lands one scene before the duck vendor’s “Is this your dog?”, making it the night’s running misidentification of Chuy.
