Aliases: Uncle Rob’s Cat Status: Minor

A mangy, half-feral cat in a rusting cage. Uncle Rob caught it the day before and meant to use it as the time portal’s test subject. Chino and Homeboy volunteer instead, sparing it. The universe bills the cat later anyway.

Role in Volume 01

• Uncle Rob’s Time Portal: Its only appearance. It sits caged in the garage, looking “as if it understood it had been volunteered for a suicide mission.” When the portal collapses in its death throes, the cat is yanked into the void “with a sharp hiss of metal and fur.” Rob figures it went to yesterday. The Mexicans find it afterward, off-page: “Hey! The Mexicans found your cat.” Rob’s entire response: “Oh shit.”

Notes

• The cat is the story’s only confirmed time traveler besides the boys, and nobody ever finds out where it landed.
