An alien tinkering with a device in the corridor. Homeboy points at it enthusiastically. It stiffens, turns on its heel, and briskly walks away around a corner. “We got a runner,” Chino yells. They chase it. “Fuck, they’re fast.”

Role in Volume 01

• Uncle Rob and the Aliens: Its only appearance. It outruns both boys in a brief, brutal pursuit and is never seen again. Its flight leads directly to Aenwyn: winded and sweat-slicked against the bulkhead, the boys watch her walk past, and Chino calls out to her instead.

Notes

• “Runner” is Chino’s word for it in the moment (“We got a runner”), kept here as an alias. The prose never gives it a name.
