Cursed Joint of Bayankala

Aliases: none Status: Major Origin: Rolled by Uncle Rob from plants taken off the alien ship, with water said to come from Bayankala’s cursed springs Wielder: Homeboy / Homegirl

The joint that turns Homeboy into Homegirl. Rolled by Uncle Rob from plants taken off the alien ship and water said to come from Bayankala’s cursed springs, it transforms Homeboy and — in Volume 1 — transforms him back. Volume 2 keeps the curse in business: tequila keeps coinciding with flips between Homeboy and Homegirl, and the group identifies tequila as the trigger, with later events backing them up. No fixed quantity or delay is established, and the curse is not conclusively cured.

Description

The joint’s two stated ingredients are the alien-ship plants — the harvested Alien Weed line — and water reported to come from Bayankala’s cursed springs. Both are reported provenance, not demonstrated chemistry; the text shows what the joint does, not how. What it does is transform Homeboy into Homegirl, a change with real plot weight: Homegirl becomes a continuing presence, and the condition keeps governing transformations into the next volume.

Volume 1 shows both directions of the change: transformation and reversion. Volume 2 shows the curse as an ongoing condition, with tequila repeatedly coinciding with the switches. The group names tequila as the trigger, and subsequent events support the identification. That is as far as the mechanics go — ordinary tequila acts as a trigger; it is not a second magical artifact, and the text establishes no fixed quantity, no fixed delay, and no conclusive cure.

Role in Volume 01

  • The joint transforms Homeboy into Homegirl, and the reversion is also shown. The curse is established as real and reversible in its first appearance — which makes its persistence in Volume 2 a choice of the story, not a loose end.

Role in Volume 02

  • Tequila repeatedly coincides with changes between Homeboy and Homegirl. The group identifies tequila as the trigger, and later events support it. Homegirl continues as a consequence the curse keeps producing; no conclusive cure is demonstrated.

Provenance: The Springs of Bayankala

Bayankala’s cursed springs are the reported source of the joint’s water. They belong here, in a provenance section, because the story never visits them and supplies no independent geography or lore for them beyond that reported ingredient role. If a later volume takes anyone to the springs, they can earn their own entry. Until then, they are a line on this page.

Notes

  • Tequila is a trigger, not a second magical artifact. The bottle on the table is ordinary; the joint is the cursed object.
  • No fixed quantity of tequila and no fixed delay between drinking and changing are established. The curse is not conclusively cured in either volume.
  • The joint is expressly named in Volume 2; Volume 1 shows its transformation and reversion earlier. The first-appearance slug follows the brief’s story mapping.
