Joint of Azathoth
Aliases: none Status: Minor Origin: Supplied by Uncle Rob as an experimental joint in a mint tin Wielder: Homeboy
Uncle Rob’s experimental joint, delivered in a mint tin, that swaps bodies. Homeboy speaks the words — “Alli permutat anima Kimota” — and the smokers exchange bodies after inhaling one another’s smoke silhouettes. The story supplies a demonstrated reversal, too: the remaining portion of the same joint, smoked with the words spoken again, restores them. It drives the entire body-swap story and, unusually for Rob’s inventions, comes with its own undo button.
Description
One joint, one mint tin, one incantation. Rob supplies it as an experiment — the tin is the packaging, not a second artifact — and Homeboy provides the activation phrase: “Alli permutat anima Kimota.” The mechanism the text shows is specific and strange: the smokers inhale each other’s smoke silhouettes, and the bodies get exchanged. Not minds projected, not illusions — a swap, with each smoker waking up in the other’s body.
The reversal is demonstrated, not theorized. The remaining portion of the same joint — not a second joint, not a different preparation — smoked with the words spoken again, puts everyone back. Predictions characters make about waiting it out, in hours or days or weeks, are speculation; the text demonstrates no automatic expiry. The joint works when used and un-works when used again, and that is the whole of the established mechanics.
Role in Volume 02
- The Joint of Azathoth: Rob supplies the experimental joint in its mint tin. Homeboy speaks “Alli permutat anima Kimota”; the smokers inhale one another’s smoke silhouettes and swap bodies. The remaining portion of the same joint, used with the words again, reverses the swap. No automatic expiry is demonstrated, and the waiting-it-out predictions stay predictions.
Notes
- “Azathoth OG” is Homeboy’s uncertain recollection of the strain, recorded here as a reported alias only. It is not established as the joint’s name, and it does not go in the aliases field.
- The mint tin is packaging. It has no demonstrated properties of its own.
- Character predictions about the swap wearing off in hours, days, or weeks are speculation. The only demonstrated ending is the reversal with the remaining portion.
