Jimi
Aliases: none Status: Minor
A man passed out on the grass outside the apartment complex, a beer can limp in his hand. Chino and Homeboy find him on the walk home from Mr. Dealer’s and, following the night’s moral code, audit his pockets.
Role in Volume 01
- The Last Blunt: His only appearance, and he sleeps through all of it. The inventory: a fat wallet stuffed with crisp hundreds (put back, with a lecture about how someone could steal it), a pistol (magazine popped and tossed in a trash can, the loose bullet pocketed, the gun replaced), a small baggy of white powder (left alone: “dope is for dopes”), and a massive bag of weed in his pants, still warm (taken). The great dick misdirect resolves into the weed bag. They lay him on his side so he won’t drown in his vomit. Homeboy crosses himself and whispers an old prayer: “Yeah, man… pobre Jimi.”
Notes
- “Jimi” is Homeboy’s word for him in the moment (“pobre Jimi”). The prose never gives him another name, and he never wakes up.
