Alien Research Spaceship

Aliases: none Status: Major

The unnamed alien vessel at the center of Uncle Rob and the Aliens: the ship Uncle Rob has a research arrangement with, the ship he denies owning, and the ship that grows the original power-bearing alien weed — the crop that lets Chino read minds and Homeboy turn invisible. It is also the ship Homeboy half-wrecks on a destructive excursion, and the ship whose airlock hosts a prank. It is not the Amazonian ship, and it is not the Intergalactic Authority Ship; the text keeps all three vessels distinct, and so does this page.

Description

What the text establishes is a set of rooms and functions, not a floor plan, and the page declines to draw the map the stories never drew. The documented spaces: a medical area, research and hydroponic facilities (the hydroponics bay holds the original crop), the bridge, and transporter/airlock spaces. The ship has transport technology — it moves people around by more than flying. How these spaces connect to each other is never described, and any deck-by-deck layout would be invention.

The hydroponics bay is the consequential room. It grows the original alien weed, and the weed’s effects are the ship’s lasting contribution to the saga: Chino gains mind reading, Homeboy gains invisibility, and Rob’s later experiments trace their lineage back to this crop. The alien crew tends it; a crewmember opens the bay for Chino by guiding his palm onto an invisible hand panel.

Role in Volume 01

  • Uncle Rob and the Aliens: its only appearance, and a busy one. Rob maintains a research relationship with the alien crew aboard — the nature, terms, and duration of which are never spelled out — and denies owning the vessel, explicitly and more than once. The hydroponics crop delivers its powers to Chino and Homeboy. Homeboy takes a destructive excursion through the ship and leaves damage behind. Somebody stages an airlock prank. And at one point Rob threatens to destroy Earth, then retracts it in the same breath. It was a joke. The page records it as one.

Relationships

  • Uncle Rob: resident researcher of ambiguous standing; owner of nothing, by his own sworn testimony.
  • Chino: mind reader, courtesy of the crop; also the ship’s most successful romantic diplomat, having talked his way into the hydroponics bay and under a space blanket with a crewmember.
  • Homeboy: invisible man, courtesy of the same crop; also the ship’s least welcome tourist.
  • The alien crew: hosts, researchers, and the people whose ship keeps getting used for other people’s business. Rob’s relationship with them is documented as a relationship, not a deed.

Notes

  • “Alien Research Spaceship” is a proposed descriptive editorial title, not a name from the text. Do not treat it as the vessel’s name or quote it as canon nomenclature.
  • Rob’s denial of ownership is explicit. The substance of his “research relationship” with the crew is not established anywhere in the evidence.
  • No deck plan or layout is established. The spaces are documented as observed; their arrangement is not.
  • Rob’s Earth-destruction threat is immediately retracted as a joke. It is not a plot, a plan, or a capability demonstration.
  • This vessel is distinct from the Amazonian ship (a separate Volume 1 vessel) and from the Intergalactic Authority Ship (a separate Volume 2 vessel). Do not merge them.
