Intergalactic Authority Ship
Aliases: none Status: Major
The unnamed vessel where the Intergalactic Authority holds the group for a sustained stretch of Mr. Dealer and the Intergalactic Authority: detained in force-field cells, processed through licensing proceedings, fitted with quarantine gear, and eventually sent home with return arrangements made. It is a ship with an institutional job to do — detention, paperwork, quarantine, transport — and it does all four. It is not evidence of a permanent Authority headquarters, and its incinerator threats are jokes. Actual executions: zero.
Description
The documented spaces read like a bureaucracy that can fly. Force-field cells hold the detainees. An officer’s office handles the administrative end. An observation booth watches. Interrogation room forty-two exists — the number is given, the reason for the number is not — and quarantine spaces process arrivals through the Authority’s containment protocols. The quarantine equipment gets its own attention because it earns it: the Intergalactic Authority Quarantine Suits, close-fitting containment gear with demonstrated waste-processing and translation functions, which the protagonists cannot figure out how to take off.
Nothing about the ship suggests it is the Authority’s home. It is where the Authority acts in this story — a working vessel with cells and offices, not a capital.
Role in Volume 02
- Mr. Dealer and the Intergalactic Authority: its only appearance. The protagonists are detained aboard for a sustained period. Licensing proceedings play out here — the intergalactic distributor’s license business, where a wristpad signature is shown and no separate physical certificate is handed over. Quarantine procedures run their course, suits and all. Return arrangements are made, and everyone goes home. Along the way, incinerator threats are issued and are plainly jokes; no one is incinerated, and the page does not pretend otherwise.
Relationships
- Mr. Dealer: the license is his business; the ship is where the Authority adjudicates it. The vessel is effectively his regulatory hearing with engines.
- Chino and Homeboy: detainees, suit-wearers, and eventually released parties. Their main contribution to the proceedings is surviving them.
- The Authority’s officers: the institutional hosts — running cells, offices, quarantine, and the paperwork that gets everyone home.
Notes
- “Intergalactic Authority Ship” is a proposed descriptive editorial title, not a name from the text. Do not treat it as the vessel’s name.
- This ship is not evidence of a permanent Authority headquarters. Nothing in the evidence establishes a fixed institutional home; the page documents a working vessel.
- The joking incinerator threats do not establish actual executions. Zero occur.
- The licensing proceedings concern the intergalactic distributor’s license as a legal status; the wristpad signature is shown, and no separately handed-over physical certificate is demonstrated.
- This vessel is distinct from the Alien Research Spaceship of Volume 1 — different ship, different volume, different aliens.
