Gerald

Aliases: none Status: Minor

A waiter at King Taco on the night of the double date, working a dining room that has dressed itself up as a fancy restaurant inside a fast-food fever dream. He takes the table’s order with a notepad and a dignity hanging by a thread, and keeps his composure through Sarah Yazzie’s escalating public advances on Chino.

Role in Volume 02

• Date Night: His only appearance. He approaches the booth with impeccable, doomed timing (“Ahem!”), takes the drink and food order while Mary Jane answers for everyone, and fields Sarah’s order of “this guy naked on my bed” with a flat “I’m sorry, but we don’t serve that here. Just what’s on the menu, ma’am.” He returns later with the food, sets the plates down “with the enthusiasm of a man trying not to get involved,” and says “Enjoy.”

Notes

• Gerald is named in the prose. His last name is never given.
